Phillips Speaks Out on Saying the Unspoken

Although he refrained from specifically classifying Biden’s condition as cognitive decline, Phillips was open in expressing his worries about his health, recognizing both physical and communicative difficulties. Even though Phillips has backed Biden in the past and even participated in his campaign, he feels driven to address what he views as an urgent need.

Phillips speaks out in a tweet that he was being attacked for being open about what he saw to be an unstated reality in Washington politics. He cited moments in which Biden seemed perplexed or made factual mistakes, such as when he mispronounced the name of the current French president, Emmanuel Macron, during a G7 gathering.

With even more concern, Phillips questioned the rationale of Biden’s 2024 reelection bid considering his advanced age and apparent deterioration. He asked people to consider Biden’s possible situation five years from now and to contrast his performance at the 2016 Democratic National Convention with his current situation.

In general, Phillips speaks out remarks are indicative of a larger debate within the Democratic Party over Biden’s suitability for the position and its possible effects on the next presidential contest.
