The ASEAN has taken steps to further its regions with the vision of ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community in 2025. Reports say the vision will prioritize sustainable management, promote sustainable cities, and ensure sustainable consumption and production.
The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) is committed to promoting “unity in diversity” in an attempt to seek peace, progress, and prosperity. Reports say the members of ASEAN established several responsibilities in the past 40 years which include the ASEAN Charter that protects the environment and its natural resources and promotes sustainable development.In addition, according to Baysa Barredo, the ASEAN has also taken steps to further the members of its regions by envisioning the ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community in 2025. Reportedly, the ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community will prioritize the areas that are in the conservation of sustainable management of biodiversity and its natural resources.
Furthermore, the ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community will also promote cities that are environmentally sustainable and will respond to climate change by ensuring the sustainable consumption and production.

Other Efforts of ASEAN
An article in ASEAN states that in the past few years, the ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights (AICHR) has also taken steps to achieve a framework that will realize the environmental rights of the members of the regions. At the center of these efforts are the marginalized sectors and the impacts of gender on the environment.
