Hurricane Lee regained strength as a Category 3 storm as it previously intensified into Category 5 on September 7. Further reports say the storm continues to move its way northwest in the Atlantic Ocean.
Today, September 12, the National Hurricane Center announced that the Hurricane Lee regained strength as a Category 3 storm and sustained maximum winds of 115 miles per hour as of 5 a.m. earlier. Furthermore, the Hurricane Lee reportedly continues to move its way northwest through the waters of the Atlantic Ocean.Nonetheless, an article in CBS News states that on September 7, the Hurricane Lee became the season’s first Category 5 storm. The hurricane center further stated that high surf and rip currents affected parts of the southeast U.S. Coast and are expected to spread north along most of the East Coast in the next couple of days.

Impacts of Hurricane Lee
According to Guzman, due to the Hurricane Lee, large ocean swells also affected the country of Bahamas, the islands of Hispaniola and Lesser Antilles, and the territories of the U.S. and the British Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, Bermuda, and Turks and Caicos Islands.
Nonetheless, as of the morning of September 11, there are still no coastal warnings or watches in effect. Furthermore, the long-term track for Hurricane Lee remains ambiguous as meteorologists are still monitoring the storm for signs that it will move more toward the U.S. Coast and potentially make landfall in New England.
