In addition, the SSA also releases an Annual Statistical Supplement that breaks data down through geographic information. The 5 U.S. states where retired beneficiaries get the biggest 2023 Social Security payments are Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, New Hampshire, and New Jersey.

On the other hand, the 5 U.S. states where retired beneficiaries get the smallest 2023 Social Security payments are Arkansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, and New Mexico. Lastly, the 5 U.S. states where retired beneficiaries receive 2023 Social Security payments that are close to the national average are Florida, Hawaii, North Carolina, Oregon, and Washington, D.C.
