The National Hurricane Center announced that a tropical disturbance is likely to develop into a tropical cyclone in the coming days. Further reports say the disturbance could also hit the state of Florida in the following week.
On August 26, the Gulf Coast of Florida was considered under a state of emergency as the National Hurricane Center tracked a tropical disturbance that could develop into a tropical cyclone and hit the state in the following week.According to Santucci, the National Hurricane Center further stated that there is a 90% chance the tropical disturbance will become a cyclone in 48 hours. Following the forecast, Governor Ron DeSantis announced a state of emergency for 33 counties as the tropical disturbance is said to hit the areas in the coming days.

State of Emergency Due to Tropical Disturbance
An article in The Weather Channel states that the emergency declaration extends from the Gulf Coast of the city of Fort Myers through the city of Panama in the Panhandle. As of the afternoon of August 26, the tropical disturbance was located near the Yucatán Channel between Mexico and Cuba. Reports say if the tropical disturbance indeed becomes another tropical storm, it could be named Idalia as the next name available in the 2023 Atlantic hurricane system.
