Junior National qualifier Catherine Andrews from Seattle, Washington is set to join the UCLA Bruins as she announced her verbal commitment to the team in the school year 2024-2025.

Catherine Andrews Announced Verbal Commitment To UCLA Bruins

As Catherine Andrews uttered her verbal commitment announcement, she expressed his enthusiasm for swimming and studying at the University of California, Los Angeles. Andrews stated how grateful she is to her teammates, coaches, friends, and family for being with her throughout her journey and to every person at UCLA, Swimming World reported. Following Andrews’s verbal commitment, she will accompany Anna Wetteland, Claudia Yovanovich, and Grace Dougherty in Westwood.

In a Swim Swam published article, Andrews added in her verbal commitment the reasons why she chose UCLA and it’s mainly because of its academic profile, location, the coaches and swimmers, and the team. She also detailed how the latter welcomed her like a family and how the program would help her persevere as she was backed up by supportive female coaches and physically gifted female athletes who looked out for each other.

What Makes Catherine Andrews’s Verbal Commitment To UCLA Worthy?

To make Andrew’s verbal commitment deserving, she is constantly training with Seattle Metropolitan Aquatic Club and most recently got 14th in the 100m back at Junior Nationals as she swept both backstroke events at the PN Senior Championships. Earlier in June, she was placed seventh in the 100m back and ninth in the 200m back at the Mel Zajac Junior International game.

Before Andrews finally stepped into UCLA after her verbal commitment, she was to finish her senior at Roosevelt High School, she was previously a runner-up in the 100 back and raced to sixth in the 50 free during the 2022 Washington 3A State Championships. She was able to bring home a bronze in both the 100 fly and 100 back as a sophomore.
