The 2023 Medicare coverage intends to offer insurance to most patients with Alzheimer’s disease who takes Leqembi drugs. In addition, the 2023 Medicare coverage will mainly be for individuals ages 65 and older after the Leqembi drugs received full approval in July.

An article in GMToday.com states that the approval for the 2023 Medicare coverage was given after a study revealed that Leqembi slowed the decline in memory and thinking by almost 5 months in contrast to those who take dummy drugs. Reports say Leqembi was developed by Japanese drugmaker Eisai and co-marketed with Biogen Inc.

As a result, the 2023 Medicare coverage will include around 76% of the individuals taking Leqembi. Individuals who are under 65 or as young as their 30s and who are also diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease will more likely be under the commercial insurance of the 2023 Medicare coverage.

In Contrast to 2023 Medicare Coverage
