The 66-year-old Abbott Elementary star Sheryl Lee Ralph shared the terrifying incidents involving her son Etienne Maurice, 31.
According to CNN, recalling the fateful year of 2013, Abbott Elementary star Sheryl Lee Ralph revealed that her son Etienne was involved in not one, but two life-changing incidents.
The first tragedy struck when he was in college, suffering a severe concussion from a car accident that significantly impacted his brain. However, little did the family know that an even more traumatic event awaited them.
Shortly after recovering from the car accident, Etienne fell victim to a brutal mugging, during which he was shot three times.
Abbott Elementary star Sheryl Lee Ralph emotionally recounted how she received the devastating news: “When I heard he’d been shot, I collapsed and dropped the phone. I didn’t even listen to the rest. But they didn’t kill him, thank God.”

Today, Etienne is a successful entrepreneur, running his own production company and a nonprofit organization called WalkGoodLA. The organization is centered around healing, mental health, and overall well-being, reflecting Etienne’s determination to use his experiences to help others.
In a recent video shared on his verified Instagram account, Etienne reassured his followers and well-wishers that the accidents occurred almost a decade ago and that he is doing well now.
His journey towards healing has been marked by honesty and openness, with the hope that his story of trauma to triumph will inspire and support others who have faced similar challenges.
Throughout the interview, Abbott Elementary star Sheryl Lee Ralph expressed profound love and gratitude for being a mother to her two children, Etienne and daughter Ivy Coco, 28. She affectionately called her children “my greatest gift” and spoke about how she always knew that motherhood was her destiny.
Ralph reminisced about meeting her first husband and the father of her children, Eric Maurice. She vividly recalled envisioning her future children with him even before they came into existence.
