Shooting Suspect Who Killed 4 in Georgia Gunned Down During Police Shootout

Andre Longmore who was accused of killing four people in Hampton, Georgia was also killed in a police shootout. Reports say the shooting suspect returned fire when authorities were able to track and confront him.

On July 15, at around 10:45 a.m., the mass shooting incident happened near the Dogwood Lakes subdivision in Hampton, Georgia. On July 16, authorities eventually identified the victims as Scott Leavitt, 67; his wife, Shirley Leavitt, 66; Ronald Jeffers, 66; and Steve Blizzard, 65, who all lived in the same subdivision.

An article in CNN states that the shooting suspect, Andre Longmore, 40, also resided in the Dogwood Lakes subdivision and stole the vehicle of one the victims. Thereafter, authorities offered a $10,000 reward for any information that could lead to the shooting suspect’s arrest. As of July 15, authorities stated that the motive of the shooting suspect remains unclear and that they do not believe he was related to any of the victims.

Shooting Suspect Killed

According to an article in CBS News, on July 16, during a news conference, Sheriff Reginald Scandrett of Henry County announced that the authorities located the shooting suspect and confronted him. However, the shooting suspect allegedly involved himself in an exchange of gunfire with the authorities which killed him and injured two police officers. Further reports say one of the officers was transported to a hospital via air due to severe injuries sustained.
