On Saturday night, Nichole Russell returned home, prompting a call to the police to notify them of her return, CBS News reported. Responding officers and medics took her to a hospital for evaluation. Hoover Police Captain Keith Czeskleba stated that they have spoken with Nichole Russell and obtained a statement, but the details are part of an ongoing investigation that will continue in the coming days.

The search for Nichole Russell began on Thursday night after she called 911 while on her way home from work in Birmingham. She had stopped to pick up food and reported seeing a young child walking on the side of Interstate 459. Nichole Russell called a family member after hanging up with 911, but during the call, contact was lost while the line remained open.

Nichole Russell’s car, wig, and cellphone were found abandoned at the scene by responding officers, but there were no signs of Nichole Russell or the child she reported. The police did not receive any other reports of a missing child, and Nichole Russell’s 911 call remains the only timely report of the child on the interstate.

Investigation of Nichole Russell’s Disappearance

During the investigation into Nichole Russell’s disappearance, her phone was analyzed, and a witness reported seeing a vehicle and a man standing outside Nichole Russell’s car, Head Topics reported. Traffic camera footage was obtained and is currently under analysis.

The search efforts involved local police, as well as state and federal agencies, working together. Nichole Russell’s parents also organized a large group of volunteers to assist in the search.
