U.S. Capitol Police Officer Arrested, Charged for Possessing Child Pornography Materials

Jared Michael Lemon was arrested and charged for possessing child pornography materials. Reports say the ICAC Task Force received a tip that the U.S. Capitol Police officer uploaded child pornography online.

Several months of investigation began as the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that an online user uploaded files that portrayed possible child pornography.

According to Vacchiano, the authorities eventually identified the online user as Jared Michael Lemon, 42. Furthermore, authorities discovered that Lemon worked as an officer in the U.S. Capitol Police since 2005. In December 2022, the Maryland State Police conducted a search warrant at the Capitol Police officer’s residence where his electronic devices were analyzed.

Charges Against the Capitol Police Officer

An article in FOX 5 DC states that upon finding out the allegations in December 2022, the Capitol Police abolished the officer’s police powers and reassigned him to administrative duties where he cannot interact with the public. Furthermore, the Capitol Police officer was suspended awaiting the outcome of his case.

On July 10, at around 5 a.m., the Capitol Police officer was arrested by the Maryland Police without incident at his residence. Thereafter, the Capitol Police officer was charged with five counts of possession of child pornography. The Capitol Police officer was then transported to the Calvert County Detention Center where he is held with no bond to date.
