Murder Suspect Charged for Killing 1, Injuring 3 In Series of Shootouts in New York

Thomas Abreu was charged with murder for killing an individual and injuring three others in a series of shootouts in New York. To date, the motive of the murder suspect for committing the shootouts still remains unknown.

On July 8, at around 11:10 a.m., the series of shootouts began when the murder suspect shot a 21-year-old man in Brooklyn. Fortunately, the man was immediately transported to a hospital where he was expected to survive the gunshot injury to his shoulder.

However, an article in USNews.com states that shortly afterward, the murder suspect once again shot an 86-year-old man who was declared dead at a hospital. The man was later identified as Hamoo Saeidi of the Richmond Hill area of Queens.

Soon thereafter, reports say a 44-year-old man was also shot in the face. To date, the man is in critical condition at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center. Almost a minute later, a 63-year-old man was also shot in the torso. Fortunately, the man is in stable condition at a hospital.

On July 9, authorities reported a sixth incident related to the series of shootouts at an intersection in Queens. During that time, a 40-year-old man was shot but was fortunately unharmed.

Charges Against the Murder Suspect

According to an article in AP News, on July 8, the New York Police Department obtained an image of the murder suspect from a video footage and sent it to officers who located him several hours after first shootout. In the end, authorities were able to arrest the murder suspect without incident.

On July 9, the murder suspect was eventually identified as Thomas Abreu, 25. Authorities were able to confiscate a 9mm handgun with an extended magazine and a scooter. Abreu was then charged with six counts of criminal possession of a weapon, two counts of attempted murder, and one count of murder. To date, the motive of the murder suspect still remains unknown.
