According to Walker, Ann Arbor joined the cities of Kentucky, Louisville, Madison, Wisconsin, and several other cities to evaluate how a Guaranteed Income pilot program is operated. The University of Michigan’s Poverty Solutions collaborated with Ann Arbor to administer a Guaranteed Income pilot program in the city.

Guaranteed Income Pilot Program Eligibility in Ann Arbor
According to Rahman, the Guaranteed Income pilot program intends to help entrepreneurs who earn low to moderate incomes. As a result, the Guaranteed Income pilot program will randomly distribute $525 per month for 24 months to 100 eligible recipients in Ann Arbor.
To be eligible for the Guaranteed Income pilot program, an individual must earn an income at 300% of the federal poverty level. This suggests that a household of one must earn less than $43,740, while a household with three members must earn less than $74,580.
Further reports say the administrators intend to launch the Guaranteed Income pilot program in September, with payments to be distributed in December or early in 2024. Residents who receive other public assistance or those who display economic hardship will reportedly be prioritized.
