The White House announced $3.1 billion in subsidy for the veteran homelessness program in the U.S. Reports say the new plan will include funding for local housing, rehousing systems, and legal services for homeless veterans.

The administration of U.S. President Joe Biden announced a new plan of funding the local housing, rehousing systems, and legal services of homeless veterans in the country. The veteran homelessness program is organized as the COVID-19 relief measures expire, leaving veterans who depend on financial assistance to face homelessness.

According to Slayton, the executive branch granted $3.1 billion in funding to the veteran homelessness program. Reportedly, the subsidy will be distributed to the coalition of state, local and tribal governments, and nonprofit organizations.

Other Funds for Veteran Homelessness Program

According to Shane III, the legal services for the veteran homelessness program were funded by the Department of Veterans Affairs for $11.5 million. This subsidy will be distributed to local legal organizations that provide legal support for veterans who are at risk of being evicted from their homes. In addition, the $58 million in funding from the Department of Labor will be used to train veterans for new employment in the workforce.
