A 36-year-old Oregon man convicted of killing his girlfriend’s daughter was discovered dead at the Oregon Department of Corrections (DOC), Oregon officials said.

The Oregon man was first entered under the custody of the Oregon Department of Corrections (DOC) on October 4, 2016, out of Marion County with no release date.

According to a news release by the District Attorney’s Office that David Gene Elliot Jr.’s court case in 2016 after pleading guilty in 2013 to murdering his girlfriend’s 3-year-old daughter and hurting her other 5-year-old child.

However, on June 15 at Two Rivers Correctional Institute in Umatilla, Elliot was found dead, according to a news release by the Oregon Department of Corrections.

Moreover, The DOC also said that the Oregon State Police have been notified of the death of Elliot and the State Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death.

David Gene Elliot Jr. Is Responsible For The Death Of His Ex-Girlfriend’s Daughter

The news release by the News4SA that in 2013, the little girl had been throwing up so Elliot placed her in the bathtub, and when he went to check on the child he found the child floating face down in the tub.

The e medical examiner’s office later concluded the little girl’s cause of death and was ruled a homicide that she died of cerebral anoxia due to near drowning after blunt force abdominal trauma, officials said.

Oregon man was sentenced to at least 25 years in prison on a murder-by-abuse charge.

The DOC states it takes all in-custody deaths seriously, and that even though criminal information is public record, the DOC elects to inform only upon request out of respect for any family or victims.
