Don Roberto Jewelers is known to have an online shop and 98 physical shop all throughout the state of California. Unfortunately, in 2021, the employees and customers of Don Roberto Jewelers became victims of a data breach executed by hackers.

According to Lawley, the negligence of Don Roberto Jewelers allegedly allowed hackers to gain access to the personal information of the victims including their Social Security numbers. The company did not admit to committing any misconduct, however, they agreed to pay $4 million in settlement to resolve the accusations concerning the data breach.

Who will qualify for the Don Roberto Jewelers settlement?

According to Shimkus, to qualify for the settlement of Don Roberto Jewelers, an individual must have an address in the documents of the company between February 16 and March 3, 2021. An individual must also provide proof that they have spent money or suffered damages due to the data breach.

The maximum amount of payments will be up to $5,750 per eligible individual. Apart from the $5,000, seven hours of wasted time with a rate of $25 per hour will also be given. In the end, these payments may be worth $75 up to $750, depending on how many individuals will file their claims. Nonetheless, any interested individual only have until today, June 26 to submit their claim forms online.
