Texas Police Officer Terminated After Being Accused of Shooting Wife in Face

Galib Waheed Chowdhury was arrested and charged for allegedly shooting his wife in the face. More than a week later, the Texas police officer was terminated from his employment.

On June 12, at around 12:30 a.m., the authorities from the Houston Police Department (HPD) responded to a call about a shooting incident at an apartment complex on Clay Road. Upon arriving at the location, they found the victim, Sadaf Iqbal, suffering gunshot injuries to her face and hand.

According to Wehner, Iqbal was then transported to a nearby hospital where she underwent emergency surgery. The authorities stated that a preliminary investigation discovered Iqbal was shot by her husband, Texas police officer, Galib Waheed Chowdhury, 31.

Texas Police Officer Terminated

According to deGrood, on the same day, the Texas police officer was arrested and faced charges of aggravated assault of a family member with bodily harm. On June 20, the HPD provided an update on the status of Chowdhury’s employment.

The update stated that the Texas police officer has been terminated effective that day. The investigation into the crime was conducted by the Special Investigations Unit of the HPD, the Internal Affairs Division, and the District Attorney’s Office of the Harris County.
