The feud over the property tax relief continues as Governor Greg Abbott vetoed bills mostly from the Senate. Reports say the Texas governor has vetoed 74 bills as of June 18.
Governor Greg Abbott of Texas adjourned the 88th legislative session with a feud against the Senate and Lt. Governor Dan Patrick over property tax relief. As of June 18, Abbott has reportedly vetoed 74 bills, more than 70% of which are from the Senate.According to Neas, in 2019, Abbott had set a personal record for most vetoes amounting to 58. However, in the history of Texas, the record for most vetoes is still held by former Governor Rick Perry who issued 83 vetoes in 2001. During that legislative session, Perry reportedly vetoed 78 bills in one day.

Bills Vetoed Over Property Tax Relief Feud
According to Melhado, Abbott vetoed two bills— the SB 1615 and the HB 279— before the legislative session was adjourned. Some bills such as the SB 813 and the SB 1399 were also found irrelevant by Abbott. Nonetheless, the Texas governor commended some bills that he vetoed such as the SB 2275.
