Oklahoma Man Arrested for Murder and Corpse Desecration in Case of Missing Wife

An Oklahoma man with a history of alleged domestic violence is now facing charges related to the murder of his wife.

Oklahoman Man’s Wife Disappearance and Prior Incidents

Tamera, who was also known as Ellison Banks, was reported missing on November 16, 2021, a day after she was last seen on Highway 64 in Haskell.

The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation issued a press release to inform the public about her disappearance, generating widespread concern for her well-being.

It was during this period that details of her troubled relationship with her Oklahoma man husband, Dayan Banks, began to surface.

Court records indicate that Tamera filed an emergency protective order against Oklahoma man Dayan, 46, on October 25, 2021, shortly before she went missing.  Subsequently, Oklahoma man Dayan faced charges of domestic assault, feloniously pointing a firearm, and disrupting/preventing/interrupting an emergency telephone call, PEOPLE reported.

These previous legal actions suggest a history of domestic violence within their relationship, adding a disturbing context to the case.

Muskogee County District Attorney Larry Edwards exposed to  KOTV-DT that Tamera failed to appear for a protective order hearing on November 16, 2021, and was reported missing.

Authorities discovered a disturbing detail when they visited Tamera’s residence: her dog was found inside the house without food or water. Additionally, Tamera’s car, phone, and medications were left behind, further raising concerns about her sudden and unexplained disappearance.

Oklahoma man Dayan Banks stands accused of first-degree murder and desecration of a human corpse in connection with the death of Tamera Banks, his missing wife.

Oklahoma man Dayan Banks was charged with first-degree murder and desecration of a human corpse on June 5, as revealed by records from the Muskogee County District Court.

The charges of the Oklahoma man come nearly two years after Tamera’s disappearance, shedding light on a troubling case of alleged violence and attempts to conceal evidence.

Authorities are working tirelessly to uncover the truth and bring justice to Tamera and her grieving family.

According to an affidavit cited by KOTV-DT, a woman, purportedly involved in a long-term affair with Dayan, came forward and provided vital information to investigators. This woman claimed that Dayan and Tamera had a confrontation regarding the sale of a lawnmower.

Allegedly, Tamera produced a gun and pointed it at Oklahoma man Dayan, leading to a struggle in which Dayan managed to grab the weapon and inadvertently shoot Tamera. The woman alleged that Oklahoma man Dayan disposed of Tamera’s body by burning it in a horse trough at a relative’s property in Okmulgee.

Subsequently, Oklahoma man Dayan purportedly concealed the remains in a plastic tote, hiding them at an abandoned home in Muskogee.

District Attorney Edwards stated that the witness’s testimony, along with other forensic findings, provides sufficient evidence to charge Dayan in connection with Tamera’s death.

Prosecutors claim that the Oklahoma man killed his wife, 43-year-old Tamera Lynn Banks, around November 15, 2021. In an alleged attempt to cover up the crime, it is believed that Dayan burned Tamera’s body, though her remains have yet to be discovered.

These charges mark a significant development in the case and highlight the gravity of the accusations against Dayan.

Oklahoma man Dayan’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 18, and it remains unclear whether he has entered a plea. He is currently being held without bond, according to the Muskogee Phoenix.
