A 28-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with an attempted kidnapping that took place in Bushwick, Brooklyn, Audacy News reported. The suspect, Felipe Rodriguez, was apprehended by the NYPD following the incident that occurred late last month.
Attempted Kidnapping In Bushwick
The attempted kidnapping happened on Friday, May 26, around 8:30 p.m. The incident took place in front of a food truck situated at 8 Wyckoff Ave. in Bushwick. A 36-year-old woman and her 7-year-old daughter were waiting at the food truck when Rodriguez allegedly approached and made an attempt to physically grab the child.
Fortunately, the mother quickly reacted and engaged in a brief struggle with the suspect, managing to break his grip on her daughter. Realizing he was unable to carry out his nefarious intentions, Rodriguez fled the scene on foot, heading northbound on Wyckoff Avenue towards Flushing Avenue.
Thankfully, the 7-year-old girl did not sustain any injuries during the incident. The swift actions of the mother played a crucial role in preventing the abduction.
Following the incident, the NYPD launched an investigation, leading to the identification and arrest of Felipe Rodriguez. He has been charged with attempted kidnapping and is now in police custody.
