After Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham of New Mexico had signed a huge tax relief package into law, 2023 Tax Rebates will be distributed to eligible residents of the state. This means that more than 900,000 taxpayers of New Mexico are in line to receive the tax rebates.According to Lawley, the 2023 Tax Rebates for individual tax filers will be worth $500, while joint filers will receive $1,000. Unfortunately, the tax filers only have until today, May 31 to settle their paperwork to receive the tax rebates.

Who will qualify for the 2023 Tax Rebates?
According to Blake, to qualify for the 2023 Tax Rebates, an individual must file their 2021 state income tax return by May 31, 2024. If the tax return is not yet filed, it can still be done online by visiting tax.newmexico.gov, seeking help from a tax professional, or using a third-party software.
Reportedly, the 2023 Tax Rebate will be distributed mid-June this year. However, if an individual earns a low income, they are not required to file the state income tax return. Instead, they will be qualified for a separate group with $15 million in tax relief to be distributed in July. Nonetheless, applications for these relief payments are not yet opened.
