A shooting incident outside a high school in Atlanta, Georgia left a 16-year-old girl killed and a 16-year-old boy injured. Reports say the victims were celebrating graduation through an unauthorized party in the area.
On May 28, at around 2:30 a.m., officers from Atlanta Police responded to reports about several people who were shot outside Benjamin E. Mays High School. Upon arriving at the scene of the Georgia shooting, the officers discovered two individuals who have been shot.According to Hanlon, one of the victims of the Georgia shooting was a 16-year-old girl identified as Bre’asia Powell. Unfortunately, reports say Powell had died after being transported to the hospital. On the other hand, the second victim was an unnamed 16-year-old boy who survived and is in a stable condition to date.
On the same day, Mayor Andre Dickens of Atlanta stated that Powell would have had a job under the city’s summer youth employment program that was set to begin on May 30.

Suspect of the Georgia Shooting
An article in FOX 5 Atlanta states that to date, authorities still do not have information of what led up to the Georgia shooting. Nonetheless, they believe that the suspect of the shooting was also a teenager. This is because teenagers from different parts of Atlanta were in the area to celebrate a graduation party that was unauthorized.
To date, a reward worth $10,000 is being offered for any information that will lead to the arrest of the suspect of the Georgia shooting.
