Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer informed Senate Democrats that a new debt ceiling bill may likely be voted on June 2. As it will pass through the House first, Schumer estimates it will reach them on Friday.

Reports say Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer informed Senate Democrats to prepare for a possible voting on the new debt ceiling bill on June 2. In a letter sent to the Senate, Schumer estimates that the bill would reach them on Friday as it must pass through the House first.

According to Bolton, when the debt ceiling bill passes the House, Schumer stated that he will instantly begin consideration of the agreement in the Senate. Furthermore, Schumer also pledged to thoroughly read the bill when it becomes at hand.

Schumer on Raising Debt Ceiling

According to Knox, on May 27, Biden and Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy reportedly reached a tentative deal. Schumer commended U.S. President Joe Biden for reaching an agreement regarding the debt ceiling. Schumer states that he salutes Biden for protecting the economy of the U.S. and removing the threat of defaulting the country’s loans.

On the other hand, Schumer criticized Republicans throughout the negotiations for advocating drastic measures. Schumer states that denying to increase the debt ceiling unless some cuts were made was being extremist.
