Governor Hochul Announces that Summer Youth Employment Program will provide jobs for approximately 18,500 Teens and Young Adults from Low-Income Families This Year.

Governor Kathy Hochul has announced that worth $47.1 million will be available to support Youth Employment Program in New York State this 2023 to assist approximately 8,500 young New Yorkers gain valuable experience in the workforce.
Governor Hochul said that for several young people, having a summer job is a rite of passage that helps them gain valuable skills and their first experiences in the workplace and this program can give invaluable experiences for young people from low-income households, teaching them responsibilities that can help them excel in careers later in life.
Lieutenant Governor Delgado also supported the Summer Youth Employment Program and ensured that teens and young adults have equitable access to job opportunities, training, and workforce experience.
Governor NY News reported that Temporary and Disability Assistance is the one that Administered that state program for young people from low-income families into the labor market so they can develop useful skills that will help them improve their educational performance and become responsible adults.
The Summer Youth Employment Program participants can work in entry-level jobs at places such as parks, summer camps, childcare organizations, cultural centers, educational facilities, and community-based organizations, among others.

How To Qualified For The Summer Youth Employment Program 2023
To be eligible for the Summer Youth Employment Program participants should be between ages 14 to 20 and hold a household income lesser than 200 percent of the federal poverty level or $49,720 for a family of three. The program helped more than 18,500 youth in 2022, supplying them with valuable workforce experience, and often results in improved academic performance afterward.
The Summer Youth Employment Program provides them a chance to work with professionals and can gain knowledge in critical skills needed to pursue a living-wage career in the modern workforce. These young New Yorkers can apply the critical insights gained through this program to help expand their horizons and achieve their career aspirations, according to New York State Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance Commissioner Daniel W. Tietz.
Young people living outside the five-county New York City region and interested in participating should contact their local Department of social services. The program application period in New York City has closed.
