Drug Suspect Charged for Attempting to Smuggle Narcotics to Boyfriend in Illinois Jail

Kasandra Claudio was charged with attempting to smuggle narcotics to her boyfriend in prison in Illinois. Reports say the drug suspect’s boyfriend was taken into custody for carjacking and murder in 2020.

In April, a police officer at the correctional facility where Dwain Johnson, 20, was being held reported that Johnson proposed smuggling paper infused with drugs into the jail. Upon investigation, authorities discovered that Johnson allegedly offered to pay $1,500 for the officer’s assistance.

According to Wehner, the Cook County Sheriff’s Office states that the officer gave Johnson a phone number to give to the suspect’s girlfriend, Kasandra Claudio, 23. Thinking that it was the officer’s girlfriend, Claudio reportedly arranged to meet at a mall’s parking lot last May 18. However, the person Claudio was supposed to meet turned out to be an undercover officer. During the operation, the drug suspect handed over paper infused with narcotics and was arrested.

Charges Faced by Drug Suspect

According to Walters, on May 19, the drug suspect and her boyfriend faced charges of bribing a public official and attempting to bring contraband into a penal institution. Claudio’s bond was then reportedly set at $3,000. Reports say in December 2020, Johnson was taken into custody after allegedly attempting to carjack and murder a retired firefighter in Chicago.
