13-year-old Owen Burns thwarted an unnamed kidnapping suspect to save his sister from being abducted. Owen stated he spotted the incident from inside their home in Michigan and used a slingshot to hit the suspect twice.

An article in CNN states that Owen’s sister was “mushroom hunting” in the backyard of their house in Alpena Township, Michigan when a man came out from the woods. Sgt. Shane Smith of Michigan State Police stated that Owen spotted the incident from inside their house where the kidnapping suspect grabbed his sister, placed a hand over her mouth, and attempted to drag her into the woods.

Kidnapping Suspect Taken Into Custody
According to an article in Fox News, Owen used his slingshot to hit the suspect twice which made him staggered from being struck. This allowed Owen’s sister to fight her way out from the kidnapping suspect’s clutches and run inside their house. Thereafter, the suspect fled the scene into the woods using a well-known trail in the community. Eventually, the authorities located the 17-year-old kidnapping suspect in the parking lot of a Big Lots store where he was taken into custody.
