South Carolina Groom Takes Legal Action After Bride’s Death
A South Carolina groom who lost his bride in a tragic car crash has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the alleged drunk driver who has been “bar hopping” that leads to the deadly crash. The groom also named several restaurants and bars where the driver had been before the crash.
The South Carolina groom, Aric Hutchinson, 36 years old, took legal action on behalf of his late wife Samantha Miller, 34 years old who died in a car crash moments after leaving their wedding reception.
The South Carolina groom alleged that his bride’s death could have been averted if the “negligent” establishments did not over-served alcohol to the driver Jamie Komoroski.
According to a record reviewed by PEOPLE show, Komoroski was charged in Samantha Miller’s death on April 28 in Folly Beach.
According to Charleston County Coroner Bobbi Jo O’Neal, Samantha Miller died on the scene from blunt force injuries sustained in the crash and was still wearing her wedding dress.

South Carolina Groom Blames Drunk Driver and Bars
The lawsuit filed by the South Carolina groom states that the driver “…began at El Gallo Bar and Grill near Daniel Island … then she made her way to Folly Beach where she began bar hopping down Center Street, making stops at the Drop-In, The Crab Shack, and Snapper Jacks.”
According to PEOPLE, the lawsuit alleged that “Despite being noticeably and visibly intoxicated at each of these establishments, Jaime Komoroski continued to be served, provided, and/or allowed to consume alcohol in each of them. By the end of the night, Jamie Komoroski was grossly and dangerously intoxicated.”
According to the lawsuit, ” … as licensed sellers of beer, wine, and liquor for consumption pursuant to South Carolina law, had a duty to obey all laws and regulations regarding the sale of alcoholic beverages and exercise due care …” adding that they have ” … a duty of care not to allow patrons to become intoxicated, to not serve alcohol to intoxicated persons.”
The lawsuit says that Komoroski had a blood alcohol level of 0.261 percent during the incident, which is more than three times the legal limit in South Carolina. She allegedly reached speeds of 65 mph in a 25 mph zone before she slammed into the golf cart.
According to WCBD-TV, Komoroski is currently being held at the Al Cannon Detention Center in North Charleston. She is charged with one count of reckless homicide and three counts of felony DUI resulting in great bodily harm, according to online court records.
It’s unclear if she has entered a plea.
