Nicholas D’Agostino was charged with the murder of his friend on the Long Island Railroad Train in 2022. Reports say the murder suspect traveled from Arizona to New York to visit the victim.
On February 13, 2022, investigators state that Nicholas D’Agostino, 20, traveled from Arizona to Wyandanch on Long Island, New York to visit his friend, Yusef Staine, then 20. Reportedly, two days later, D’Agostino and Staine, along with two other individuals boarded the train to New York City.According to Wehner, early morning of the following day, D’Agostino and Staine returned to Suffolk County. However, surveillance video released by the Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA) Police revealed that the two men missed their stop at Wyandanch.
Nonetheless, once the train had stopped in Ronkonkoma, D’Agostino and Staine exited the train to catch the next one back to Wyandanch. According to the District Attorney’s office, however, while boarding the train to Wyandanch, D’Agostino walked behind Staine and shot him in the back of his head. When Staine dropped to the ground, the suspect was seen shooting the victim in his torso. Thereafter, the murder suspect fled from the crime scene.

Charges Faced by Murder Suspect
According to Reilly, authorities from the Suffolk County Police Department obtained more surveillance footage. The videos allowed them to track the murder suspect’s movements before, during, and after the shooting incident. In addition, investigators also used data from D’Agostino’s cellular phone.
Eventually, after a year of investigation, the Suffolk County detectives have arrested the murder suspect last May 18 in Yonkers, New York. The following day, D’Agostino was arraigned by Steven A. Pilewski, the Acting Supreme Court Justice.
Furthermore, District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney of Suffolk County announced the indictment of the murder suspect. D’Agostino reportedly faced charges of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and second-degree murder. Pilewski also ordered the murder to be held without bail and if convicted, will face up to 25 years in prison.
