Travis Scott Will Not Face Criminal Charges In Connection With Astroworld Tragedy
A grand jury declined to indict the rapper and five others in connection with the deadly crowd crush that killed 10 people and injured thousands more at the 2021 Astroworld Festival in Houston, prosecutors said.
Thursday, Kim Ogg the Harris County District Attorney reported that the grand jury returned no evidence on all criminal charges linked to support the deaths of the 10 victims.
Time Entertainment reported that Scott’s attorney Kent Schaffer said that the decision by the Harris County District Attorney affirms that Travis Scott is not liable for the 2021 AstroWorld tragedy.
This is consistent with investigative reporting by numerous media outlets and federal and state government reports that have squarely placed the onus for event safety problems on organizers, operators, and contractors not performers, Schaffer added to her statements.
Schaffer also claimed that her client Travis Scott has been inaccurately and wrongly singled out, despite stopping the show three separate times and being unaware of the events as they were unfolding.
