An arrest warrant from Dallas County states that on May 10, authorities received a report about a dead body in a parking lot. Surveillance footage nearby revealed that Harold Lavance Thompson, 22, was walking with the victim before the shooting incident. Thereafter, Thompson was seen pulling out a gun and shooting the victim in her head.

According to Alonso, despite the victim already on the ground, Thompson fired multiple shot into her before fleeing from the crime scene. Several witnesses, including the victim’s sister, claimed that they saw Thompson tried to put the victim in a chokehold where she got away. However, the gunshots ensued thereafter.

Against the Colorado Abortion

An article in The Guardian states that the victim was later identified as Gabriella Gonzalez, 26. According to the arrest warrant, Thompson and Gonzalez were apparently dating. The suspect was believed to be the father of the woman’s child. However, further investigation revealed that Gonzalez went from Texas to Colorado to get an abortion despite Thompson allegedly not allowing the woman to have one.

Reports say apart from the shooting incident due to the Colorado abortion, Thompson already had an active warrant for family violence strangulation last March in which Gonzalez was still the victim. Nonetheless, after being arrested following the execution of a search warrant, Thompson refused to give a statement.

Thompson reportedly faced charges of assault of a family or household member by impeding breath or circulation and murder. Furthermore, on May 11, Thompson had his first appearance before a judge, but was denied bond and appointed to have a public defender instead.
