A recent NYC subway news reveals that Daniel Penny will be charged with manslaughter after strangling Jordan Neely to death. The ex-Marine is expected to turn himself in and be arraigned today, May 12.

A recent NYC subway news reveals that a video that lasted for almost 3 minutes showed Daniel Penny, 24, strangling Jordan Neely, 30, on the floor of a subway car. Witnesses stated that Neely was erratic, screaming about being tired and hungry, but did not physically attack anyone aboard.

According to Sundby, Penny was initially taken into custody by the authorities for interrogation but was eventually released with no charges. Nonetheless, the medical examiner’s office in New York ruled Neely’s death as homicide. Following this, the attorneys for Neely’s family claimed that Penny should be sentenced to prison.

Update on the NYC Subway News

Fortunately, an article in Yahoo News states that on May 11, the District Attorney’s Office in Manhattan announced that Penny will face charges of second-degree manslaughter in connection with the chokehold that caused the death of Neely.

Reports say Penny is expected to turn himself in to the police and the prosecutors looked forward to his arraignment today, May 12. Nonetheless, a spokesperson for Alvin Bragg, the Manhattan District Attorney states that they cannot provide any further information until Penny has been arraigned in the Manhattan Criminal Court.
