Why is Joran van der Sloot To Be Extradited To the U.S.?

Joran van der Sloot will be extradited to the U.S. temporarily to face charges of extortion and wire fraud. Joran van der Sloot is a Dutchman who is connected to the disappearance of American Natalee Holloway in Aruba last 2005. He is currently serving a 28-year sentence in connection to the killing of 21-year-old Stephany Flores in Lima last 2010.

Natalee Holloway went missing last May 2005 during a class trip in Aruba, where Joran van der Sloot lived. Sloot was questioned as he was seen together with Holloway leaving a bar, he was not charged in that case.

Joran van der Sloot is accused of extortion because he promised Holloway’s family to lead them to her body but the body was never found. One day earlier before Holloway was declared dead in 2012, Joran van der Sloot pleaded guilty to Flores’ murder.

In a statement by the Peruvian attorney general’s office, Sloot will be temporarily handed to the United States but will return to Peru immediately following the proceedings.

Peru’s ambassador to the U.S. said in a statement that they are hoping that this action will take a lead and bring peace to Stephany Flores’s and Natalee Holloway’s family who is grieving the loss of their loved ones.

In conclusion, Joran van der Sloot will be extradited to the United States to face charges but will return immediately after the proceedings. Families Natalee Holloway are hoping to find leads in her case.
