On May 6, at around 3:36 p.m., a gunman opened fire at Allen Premium Outlets in Texas. Reports say eight individuals were shot to death and at least seven others were injured before the gunman was killed by a police officer who was already nearby due to an incident separate from the Texas mall shooting.

An article in CNN states that according to the Gun Violence Archive, the Texas mall shooting was only one of the more than 200 mass shootings that have happened in the U.S. so far this 2023. Americans go about their daily lives in communities as they go to stores, schools, parks, and hospitals while struggling with the grief and trauma following the shootings.
