Investigators are looking into considering whether the Texas mall shooter who killed 8 people and wounded 7 at a mall in Texas last Saturday was influenced by domestic violent extremist ideas, law enforcement sources told CBS News.

Texas Mall Shooter Identified!

The Texas mall shooter was identified as Mauricio Garcia who is a 33-year-old from Dallas, Texas Department of Public Safety confirmed.

Mauricio Garcia opened fire at Allen Premium Outlets in Allen, Texas, and was later shot to death by police officers. He was heavily armed and appeared to be on a mission. Garcia was wearing armored ballistic gear and used an assault-style weapon and had multiple rounds of ammunition.

Investigators are looking at possible affiliations of the suspect with prison gangs and cartels and go through Garcia’s social media and online accounts to look for violent extremists and like-minded individuals.

Sources confirmed that the shooter had a patch on his clothes, letters “RWDS” stands for “Right Wing Death Squad” which is believed to be a right-wing neo-Nazi group.

Garcia did not have serious criminal records, he was living in a motel and working as a security guard. Police raided a house that belongs to Garcia’s parents late Saturday night and also search a motel where he lived.

Motive Of The Texas Mall Shooter

The motive of the Texas mall shooter has not been clear but authorities are already doing their best in connecting all possible leads to why the suspect had done the shooting.

President Joe Biden ordered all flags at public buildings and at the White House to be flown at half-staff as a respect to the victims.

Residents call for stricter gun reforms to lessen this kind of event. Residents also want a long-term solution to address the mental health issue of the state.

A poll by Fox News asked respondents about reforms such as mandatory background checks, purchasing age at 21, avenues to report people who are seen as dangers to themselves, and requirements for mental health.
