The Tyre Nichols autopsy revealed that the victim suffered from blunt force injuries after being beaten by the Memphis police officers. Following the result, Nichols’ death had been ruled as a homicide.
On May 4, the Tyre Nichols autopsy has been revealed stating that the 29-year-old Black man suffered from blunt force trauma to his head after being violently beaten by the Memphis police officers last January. Following the results, Nichols’ death had reportedly been ruled as a homicide.An article in CNN states that the Tyre Nichols autopsy conducted by a medical examiner from Shelby County revealed that the victim had a rupturing and tearing in his brain and obtained bruises and cuts all over his body, especially his neck and torso.
In addition, a toxicology report was also conducted on Nichols which detected the existence of chemicals associated with alcohol and marijuana. Nonetheless, Nichols’ blood content was 0.049, which is lower than the limit of 0.08 that is legal in the state of Tennessee.
Tyre Nichols Autopsy Revealed Cause of Death
According to an article in Yahoo News, on January 7, Nichols was repeatedly kicked and punched by five Black officers from the Memphis Police Department following a brief foot chase after being pulled over. After the incident, Nichols reportedly required to be hospitalized but unfortunately, died three days later.
On February 17, the five Memphis police officers pleaded not guilty during their arraignment. They were reportedly indicted on seven counts each of official misconduct, aggravated kidnapping, aggravated assault, and second-degree murder. However, Preston Hemphill, a White Memphis police officer, was fired and charged departmentally due to policy violations.
