According to Vacchiano, because of the vomiting, the inmate was taken out of Santa Rita Jail and transported to a medical outpatient housing unit. Reports say he admitted to the staff that during his intake, he also used a controlled substance the day before he was arrested. Nonetheless, the Sheriff’s Office stated that despite the use of drugs, there was no problem found during the inmate’s medical and mental health intake process.
