Who qualifies for the 2023 Tax Refunds?
According to Johnson, to qualify for the 2023 Tax Refunds, tax filers must be residents of the state of Georgia. In addition, those who have been claimed as dependents and those who have tax liabilities in 2021 will also be qualified.
As was the case in 2022, tax filers still must have filed and paid taxes for the previous two years to be qualified for the 2023 Tax Refunds. Frank O’Connell, the Commissioner of Revenue of Georgia, stated that most tax refunds from last year have already been issued in July 2022.
The Department of Revenue is expecting all 2023 Tax Refunds for those who have filed by the deadline on April 18 to be issued within the next two months. Nonetheless, the tax refunds will not be issued until a taxpayer’s returns in 2022 have already been processed.
