Fake Doctor Who Treated Clients, Charged With 48 Felony Counts in Arizona

Jose Andres Lopez was charged with 48 felony counts after pretending to be a doctor in Arizona. To date, state officials are looking for the victims who were treated by the fake doctor.

According to the state officials of Arizona, the offenses made by Jose Andres Lopez, 40, took place between 2017 and 2021. Court documents state that while pretending to be a fake doctor, Lopez also wrote prescriptions for Norel Ad, Meloxicam, and Hydroxyzine. In addition, Lopez also allegedly forged sensitive documents like medical bills. In July 2018, reports say Lopez was also accused of lying on his job application for Arizona Western College.

Vacchiano states that the state officials are now looking for the victims who were treated by the fake doctor at the Institute for Male Health and Performance in Lake Havasu City, Arizona. The state officials believe that Lopez may have pretended to be a doctor under the name of Dr. Joseph Lopez.

Charges Faced by the Fake Doctor

An article in the AZFamily states that on December 16, the fake doctor was arrested by the Lake Havasu City Police and was indicted before a grand jury. On April 26, Lopez’s charges were reportedly announced by the Arizona Attorney General’s Office.

Reports say the fake doctor’s charges include taking the identity of another, forgery, and computer tampering. Today, May 1, Lopez’s court hearing was scheduled in Kingman, Arizona. However, the investigations for this case is still ongoing and anyone with information is urged to call the Arizona Attorney General’s Office Health Care Fraud and Abuse Section.
