The state of Georgia is expected to issue 2023 Tax Refunds to eligible taxpayers beginning this month. These tax refunds are a one-time payment worth up to $500. These payments will be made possible because of the House Bill 162 which was recently signed into law by Brian Kemp, the state’s Governor.

According to Carnes, when the bill was passed, it allowed a redistribution of the state’s surplus in the budget that was worth $1 billion in the form of 2023 Tax Refunds. Reports say the budget in 2022 was worth $6.6 billion. The House Bill 162 paved the way for Georgia’s second major tax refund in many years.

Individual tax filers can receive $250, while tax filers who are heads of households can receive $375. Joint filers, on the other hand, can receive $500.
