Proposal for Transgender Athletes Faced Opposition

According to an article on the AP News, Biden’s proposal for the transgender athletes is made to oppose the measures endorsed by Republicans that target LGBTQ+ rights. However, some supporters of the transgender athletes are also concerned that the proposal will not go far enough.

Reports say Biden’s proposal was introduced on the same day the U.S. Supreme Court prohibited West Virginia to impose a state law that banned transgender athletes from the sports teams in public schools. The justices in the Supreme Court reportedly denied West Virginia’s request to lift the decree that a lower court has enforced. The decree was allegedly enforced while the litigation brought by a transgender girl, Becky Pepper-Jackson, 12, is still ongoing.
