MD Jobul Hussain faces an assault charge after hitting a grocery store clerk in Michigan with a 4-pound frozen fish. Reports say Hussain became angry when the clerk explained that their counter had already closed because of the Ramadan holiday.

On April 2, at around 7:13 p.m., MD Jobul Hussain, 60, allegedly became angry when he approached a fish counter at Desi Fruit Market in Warren, around 20 miles north of Detroit, Michigan, that had already closed. A store clerk reportedly explained that the counter had already closed because of the Ramadan holiday.

According to Czachor, upon hearing this, Hussain allegedly hit the store clerk on his head with a frozen hilsa fish that weighed four pounds. Hilsa is reportedly a specie of fish that can weigh over 6 and a half pounds. The clerk’s identity was not revealed publicly but he was immediately transported to a nearby hospital after the assault.

Assault Over Ramadan Holiday

According to Stelloh, on April 3, Hussain was arraigned in a district court and fined with a bond worth $5,000. In addition, Hussain was faced with a charge of one count of aggravated assault which is a year of misdemeanor in Michigan. Macomb County Prosecutor Peter Lucido stated that hitting someone’s head with a frozen fish is actually considered to be dangerous. To date, Hussain’s next appearance in court has not been scheduled yet.
