Florida Teen Arrested for Felony Animal Cruelty After Viral Video Shows Dog Abuse

A teenager in Deltona, Florida, has been arrested and charged with felony animal cruelty after a video of him abusing his dog went viral.

Disturbing Abuse Captured on Surveillance Footage

The incident occurred on March 14, when a concerned resident forwarded the video to Deltona Animal Control. In the video, the teenager is seen going after his dog in a neighbor’s yard after it ran away. He took the dog by the neck and hauled it back to his house. He then took it into the air and slammed it down.

The suspect then straddled the dog and punched it in the face repeatedly before grabbing the dog by its head and slamming it on the ground multiple times. The audio accompanying the video recorded the dog yelping in pain.

Deltona Animal Control took the dog into custody and transferred it to a local animal hospital. The veterinarians found that the dog had suffered several injuries, including a broken rib and a punctured lung. The dog is currently recovering from its injuries.

Suspect’s Grandmother Witnessed the Incident

During the inquiry, as reported by Fox News,  officers learned that the suspect’s grandmother observed the incident and attempted to stop him. She also stated that she disciplined him following the abuse. Despite this, the teenager was taken into custody and processed for a felony charge.

Animal abuse is a serious crime that can result in severe legal consequences. Deltona Animal Control is urging residents to report any suspicious animal activity to them immediately. Animal cruelty is a growing problem across the United States, and it is important to take action to prevent it.
