Stimulus and Relief Checks in Alaska and Maine
Alaska offers $3,284 stimulus via the Permanent Fund Dividend program for eligible residents. To qualify, one must be an Alaska resident and not be incarcerated in 2022.
Eligible residents must have applied by March 31, 2022, and those approved but unpaid by April 12, 2022, will receive their payment on April 20, 2022. Late applicants may not receive payment until May 18, 2022, according to a report by the AS.
Maine is providing $450 payments to about 880,000 residents to cover their heating costs during the winter season. Eligibility is based on information from their tax returns, and the state expects to complete all payments by March 31, 2022.
Tax Refunds in Massachusetts and New Mexico
Massachusetts taxpayers can receive a refund of about 14% of their state tax liability, and those who filed before October 17, 2021, received their refund in December. According to Kiplinger, those who file before September 15, 2023, will receive their payment one month after filing.
New Mexico is providing a tax refund of $500 for single filers and $1,000 for joint filers to eligible residents who file their 2021 income tax return before May 2023. The state tax authority provides this rebate to residents who file their tax returns on time.
