GOP Senators are criticizing the U.S. President Joe Biden’s nominee for the U.S. District Court of Colorado. The legislators claim that the nominee, jurist Kato Crews, is unqualified for the role after he was put at a loss after being questioned at a confirmation hearing last week.According to Deese, magistrate judge Crews failed to answer one of the GOP senators, Kennedy’s, abrupt question on how to examine and define a Brady motion. Reportedly, a Brady motion is a legal process wherein a criminal defendant can compel the prosecution to provide evidence in case it may prove their innocence.

GOP Senators’ Opinions on the Judicial Nominee’s Skills and Merits
According to Elkind, one of the GOP Senators, Tom Cotton, also stated that Crews not being able to answer Kennedy’s question shows that skills and merits are not on top of Biden’s priority list. Senator Mike Lee also accused Biden’s administration of being inclined to sacrifice knowledge in exchange of their own politics. Lastly, Senator Rick Scott also stated that Biden’s nominees must be treated like any other job applicant upon consideration for a role.
Reportedly, Kennedy is originally known to baffle judicial nominees with abrupt questions even before. In January, Kennedy also asked Superior Court Judge Charnelle Bjelkengren of Spokane County about what the Article V does in the U.S. Constitution. Unfortunately, Bjelkengren answered that the Article V is not coming to her mind.
