California launches a Guaranteed Income Pilot program that provides payments worth $500. In this article, read and find out who is eligible to receive these monthly payments!
The United Way California Capital Region, a non-profit organization, along with the city of Sacramento, California has launched a Guaranteed Income Pilot program. This was made possible when the city’s Mayor Darrell Steinberg suggested using $750,000 of the American Rescue Plan Act funds to finance the program.According to Russo, the Guaranteed Income Pilot program was originally launched to provide 100 households in Sacramento with $300 per month. The first batch is scheduled to end in May and a new batch of 80 households can apply until mid-April. Eligible recipients who are selected for the second batch can receive an increase worth $500 per month.

Eligibility for the Guaranteed Income Pilot Program
According to Martinez, to be eligible for Sacramento’s Guaranteed Income Pilot program, an applicant must live in the city. Furthermore, the eligibility is based on the size of the applicant’s household and the amount of income they earn. For instance, a single individual must earn less than $28,205. An adult with one child must earn less than $49,945. An adult with two children for less than $65,880 and those with three children for $79,500.
On the other hand, two adults with must earn less than $43,201. Two adults with one child must earn less than $64,273. Two adults with two children for less than $79,500 and those with three children for $93,120.
Lastly, a household with six people must earn less than $106,740. Those with seven people must earn less than $120,360 and with eight for $133,980. Households with an extra person must earn an additional $14,160 for every person. All residents only have until April 15 at 2:59 am to apply for the Guaranteed Income Pilot program online. Reportedly, the payments of the new batch is set to be issued on July 1.
