Every year, residents of Boulder, Colorado who earn low to average incomes are offered with Food Tax Rebate. This tax rebate intends to offset the taxes that the residents pay on food. According to Russo, this 2023, the tax rebate will amount to $99 for individuals and $302 for families. In addition, the residents in Boulder will be able to apply for this tax rebate in over a week.

Who qualifies for the Food Tax Rebate?

According to Mehl, to be eligible for the Food Tax Rebate, an applicant must have lived in Boulder, Colorado for the entire 2022. The applicants must not earn an income of more than $43,900 for individuals and $62,700 for a household with four members. For households with two and three members, the income must not exceed $50,200 and $56,450, respectively.

In addition, the applicants must also meet one of the requirements such as being 62 or older, having a disability, or having children aged 18 or below during the year 2022. Applicants who do not own a permanent shelter and can meet the requirements for residency are also eligible. This means that they must provide documentation that they receive services from a homelessness agency recognized by the city of Boulder. Reportedly, the applications for tax rebate will begin on March 1, Wednesday.
