Apart from the Supplemental Security Income, beneficiaries can also receive discounts on their internet bills. The Social Security internet discount is for beneficiaries who also receive the SSI monthly.

An article on Consumer Action states that a beneficiary can receive a Social Security internet discount of up to $30 per month. If the beneficiary is in the Tribal lands, they can receive up to a $70 discount. In addition, when purchasing a tablet, computer, or other electronic devices, a check worth up to $100 can be received.

How to claim the Social Security Internet Discount?

According to Quirós Villalba, to avail the Social Security internet discount, one must apply for the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP). This program provides monthly discounts on beneficiaries’ internet connection services.

Therefore, a beneficiary must first confirm that they are eligible. Eligibility to the internet discount may be checked if the beneficiary receives the SSI. Once the eligibility is confirmed, application to the ACP must be made. After being accepted by the ACP, the beneficiary must look for an internet service provider that offers the ACP benefits and complements the SSI.
