Heidi Kathleen Carter, 37, has been found guilty on six counts, including rape and murder charges, in Indiana. Carter invited a couple she met on a lesbian dating app to her Stinson Avenue home.

They began to engage in consensual sex that turned violent when Carey Hammond, Carter’s boyfriend, entered the room and attacked them with a baseball bat, as reported by the Courier & Press on February 14, 2023.

Police responded to Carter’s home in October 2021 for a possible kidnapping and murder. Carter was arrested, while Hammond pointed a firearm at authorities and was fatally shot. Ivy was found deceased and wrapped in a blanket with duct tape, while the female victim was seriously injured.

A report by Fox News on February 17, 2023, indicated that Hammond beat the victims with a bat and raped the female victim. The female victim stated that Carter was holding a firearm and threatening to kill both Ivy and her. Hammond strangled Ivy to death with his belt while trying to escape.

Carter and Hammond invited a housekeeper to clean their home and then ordered pizza. The housekeeper found a body upstairs and eventually escaped to find a state trooper. Carter admits to making threats and assisting in the concealment of Ivy’s body.

The verdict delivered by the jury indicates that Heidi Kathleen Carter has been found guilty of committing serious crimes and has been held accountable for her actions.
