Michigan Nurse’s License Revoked After Toddler Died In Her Care While On Meth

Judith Maria Sobol, a Western Michigan nurse, had her license revoked after a toddler died in her care. Sobol was accused of being under the influence of methamphetamines when the 3-year-old died.

In the early morning of June 20, 2022, the toddler’s parents discovered Michigan nurse Judith Maria Sobol, 42, incoherent. The 3-year-old toddler was reportedly unresponsive and her trachea tube disconnected. Despite the efforts to resuscitate the toddler, unfortunately, she died.

According to the Fox News, the Coloma Township Police Department officers reportedly discovered a small container of crystal methamphetamine and two methamphetamine pipes in the Michigan nurse’s purse. Sobol also allegedly admitted to the Coloma Police that she had injected methamphetamine the day she went to work. The Michigan nurse was allegedly under the influence of methamphetamine when she worked an overnight shift for the toddler at a Berrien County home.

Michigan Nurse Faced Charges

According to Devereaux, the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) revoked the Michigan nurse’s registered license for violating the public health code. The Department of Attorney General issued an administrative complaint that accused Sobol of incompetence, lack of good moral character, and more. On February 17, Attorney General Dana Nessel also announced that the Michigan nurse was fined $150,000.

Reportedly, the Michigan nurse had already faced charges of possession of methamphetamines or ecstasy and second-degree murder last year. A jury trial on Sobol’s charges of murder and possession are scheduled to start on February 21 in Berrien County Trial Court. To date, Sobol is being held in the Berrien County Jail on a $500,000 bond.
