In January 2023, Northwest Arkansas’ sales tax revenue reported an increase of 12.29% in the state’s four largest cities. These cities include Springdale, Rogers, Fayetteville, and Bentonville that had a cumulative sales tax revenue worth $8.82 million from retail sales. Each of these cities collected local sales tax in November 2022 and 1% of the said tax is reflected in the January report, as reported in Hinterland Gazette.Bentonville
According to Souza, Bentonville City has earned the highest in Northwest Arkansas sales tax revenue. The city has reported a sales tax revenue increase of 29.13%. The total sales tax revenue amounted to $1.901 million. For the past three years, Bentonville has experienced in January an increase in its Arkansas sales tax revenue.
Springdale
Next to Bentonville, Springdale has earned the second-highest in Northwest Arkansas sales tax revenue. The city has reported a sales tax revenue increase of 9.71%. The total sales tax revenue amounted to $1.926 million which added to the 20.46% in revenue increase in 2022. Mayor Doug Sprouse stated that Springdale has allocated an 8% annual revenue growth from its sales tax in 2023.
Rogers
Next to Springdale, Rogers has earned the third-highest in Northwest Arkansas sales tax revenue. The city has reported a sales tax revenue increase of 8.7%. The total sales tax revenue amounted to $2.341 million which added to the 12.97% in revenue increase in 2022. Rogers has reported budgeted 2023 for 10.6% annual sales tax revenue growth.
Fayetteville
Lastly, the city of Fayetteville has earned the fourth-highest in Northwest Arkansas sales tax revenue. The city has reported a sales tax revenue increase of 7.23%. The total sales tax revenue amounted to $2.651 million which added to the 10.49% in revenue increase in 2021.
